Christine Prestgard, CSW

My name is Christine and I am a certified social worker. I earned a master’s degree in special education with an emphasis on behavior analysis before earning my master’s degree in social work so I bring a unique perspective and understanding of human behavior to my therapy practice. As such, I utilize therapeutic techniques such as CBT, DBT, neuro-linguistic programming, and motivational interviewing. I am a creative and visual person who believes in the power of telling and understanding one’s own narrative so I also utilize play and sand tray therapy techniques with my clients. My personality and skill set most align with Internal Family Systems (IFS). I find this to be a gentle but powerful, validating and transformative modality that allows people to truly connect with who they are and use self-determination to overcome obstacles in life. Among other things, I can help with issues including anxiety, depression, life changes, eating disorders, faith questioning, perinatal concerns and changes, self esteem issues, relationship issues, and trauma. I see therapy as a harbor at sea- a safe place to rest and replenish and to ideally learn some skills to make facing life’s inevitable storms less daunting. My love of water extends beyond my “sea harbor” metaphor for therapy. Outside of my time providing therapy, I can be found in nature, swimming, splashing in rain puddles, dancing in the rain, chasing rainstorms in my car, playing in a lake, or sitting lakeside “contemplating the tides”. On dry land I enjoy cooking, baking, reading, and attending symphonies, and Sunday family dinner and game night is a highlight of every week. I’m grateful to be part of your journey.
