Dealing with the stresses of growing up in this day and age can be difficult for our kids. When children and adolescents are not able to develop the coping skills necessary to overcome life’s adversity it often results in feelings of anxiety and depression. Sometimes these children have challenges that do require outside professional help. We have several therapists who specialize in treating this population. Parents are involved in this treatment. We start by assessing the situation, then create treatment goals geared more towards children. Children are not little adults, treatment is more experiential. At Eagle Mountain Counseling our therapists use play therapy, parenting consultation, family therapy, art, stories, music, and other modes to engage children. Adolescents may respond to this or may want to use more talk therapy. Our therapist work with each minor in the way that best fits their personality.
Research continues to demonstrate that youth psychotherapy is effective in helping individuals make and sustain positive and healthy changes in their lives. We hope to help and serve you and/or your child or teen in this endeavor.
To ensure your child or adolescent receives the best possible care at Eagle Mountain Counseling, we’ve made it our standard practice to actively study the latest research and remain up-to-date on best treatment practices, developmental theory, diagnostic issues, and how to best serve clients of all ages.
