    AILENE WOOD, AMFT

Ailene has a strong focus on working with children with special needs and their families. She has two special needs child of her own and has seen first-hand what things have helped and what things have not. She likes to work with both child and parent together in session.

    Specialties:

    Children – Youth – Adults – Couples – Families – Parenting

    Approaches to Therapy:

Ailene uses Gottman theory for working with couples along with Structural Family Therapy. She likes to use Narrative Therapy to work through a life story with each client. She also uses CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) which focuses on changing unhealthy thinking patterns to work with individuals. Much of Ailene’s approach is based on her marriage and family degree focus with looks at the individual as part of a whole system. Ailene is also trained in EMDR and used this approach to help people work through trauma.

    Education and Training:

Ailene earned a Bachelor’s degree in Behavioral Science from the Utah Valley University. She then went on to earn a Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Northcentral University. She has received training from the Gottman Institute to help in working with couples. She is also EMDR trained.
